From mood board to sample

A product design process.

Each collection starts from an idea, a story. A spark that opens up an opportunity to be eventually developed into a finished product.
Once this idea is researched, we start collecting a mood board that gives us insight into visuals that can be referenced during the design phase.

We start exploring colour options and different artworks. Not all artworks make the cut. Some are discarded. Some are saved for later.

Then comes the tech pack development phase. A tech pack is a very detailed document that outlines all the important information that is required by the manufacturers.

There can never be too much information on a tech pack. Colour codes, fabric weight and composition, pattern dimensions, stitching details, and artwork positioning are all standard.
The samples usually take 1 - 2 weeks to be developed and then shipped to us. This looks exactly like the finished item. Sometimes it’s just missing the hang tags and neck labels.

This gives us the chance to inspect the garment for anything, from fit, fabric quality to printing and stitching.
